The lever design outside trim offers on the ED-400 series and ED-400 D series.
The exit device trim features the unique free-wheeling lever mechanism. This free-wheeling trim features a clutch mechanism which allows the lever to float down 60 degrees when operated in the locked condition, improving vandal resistance.

- Part no. ED-400-1000E: Entrance function. Key retracts latchbolt, unlocks lever. Operates as classroom function. ANSI function - 08.
- Part no. ED-400-1000S: Storeroom function. Key operates lever, otherwise always locked. ANSI function - 04.
- Part no. ED-400-1000P: Passage function. Trim always operable and free. ANSI function - 15.
- Part no. ED-400-1000D: Dummy function. Dummy trim. One sided. ANSI function - 10.
